HORN GROWTH:
Horn growth on average is 1 inch
a month for the first couple years of life. At about age 2 - 3 years, rams
seem to
slow down on growing horns. Weather (cold weather seems to slow horn
growth) and other environmental factors
as well as nutrition and, of course, genetics also affects horn growth.
Some rams seem to grow horns slower at first
than others and some rams seem to just have slower growing horns over all.
While trophy class horns are really nice,
most rams may not even make a "class" (Bronze, Silver, Gold) by age 2 years.
