The Corsican Family of Sheep includes, Texas Dall, Black Hawaiian, Painted Desert & American Blackbelly Sheep and sheep identified also simply as "corsicans". These sheep are all mouflon hybrid sheep which have developed into unique and individual breeds. Within the Corsican Family, brown (or reddish brown) & Black colored sheep or brown/fawn and cream/grey colored sheep or even solid brown/fawn coloring are called Corsican Sheep. These sheep when bred to other sheep with the same coloring will usually produce either solid colored or the same coloring as their parents. The Corsican colored sheep are usually the result of mixing the Black Hawaiian with American Blackbelly but can be the result of mixing any of the breeds/divisions of the Corsican FAMILY of sheep. Close Mouflon bloodlines can also lead to this coloring. Sheep which have a known Painted Desert Sheep in their background we will list as an Unregistered Painted Desert Sheep as the color white is necessary for registration and due to the potential for spotting to be in the genetics. |
